Part of my ongoing long term self development vision is to put value to myself by helping other people. Of course I don’t have much time and resources so I have to do this one people at a time. Computer and internet is the best media that I can use since I’m inclined to it and I spend most of my time in front of it.
Some may say helping others is easy. For one time help, I might agree with them. But here, I am referring to focus my vision on helping as part of my existence and everyday task. I have a blog www.batanggenyo.net which receives enough traffic of around 300 users everyday. Here I promote Batangas, discussing people and places to visit. I have established myself as someone who is knowledgeable about our province. As a result, they are emailing me with lots of queries everyday ranging from direction on how to visit certain places up to the entrance fee of a certain Batangas resort. There are times that their emails got stucked in my inbox especially during those busy times where I really don’t have time to reply on all their queries. Same thing happen to my other blog How to Work in Singapore. It also has an ample traffic everyday and lots and lots of email queries landing on my mailbox. Sometimes, they even call my phone just to ask information. In the end, I found myself having extra jobs with no monetary benefits at all. Without proper vision and motivation of helping others, I might have ended quitting what I am doing and decide not to help at all. Why bother if I won’t get anything in the end?
Money is not an issue if you want to build yourself as someone that people can rely on. It should also not be the sole basis of helping other people. There are some greater rewards that we can get from helping them. Along the way, the feeling of great satisfaction will arise. Especially if you know lots of people got benefited from the help that you offered to them. I must admit, I also get tired and have lots of other things to do ranging from personal to office tasks. And having this extra job with no salary is quite a burden to me. And yet, in the end, I still choose to continue helping them. Why? Below are some email messages that I received from my mailbox.
Continue to inspire us to dream big….despite the hard times were experiencing…God Bless!

And a lot more coming everyday… These are people whom I do not know but thanking me for what I have done to them. For me, these are the best rewards that I can get from helping them. I don’t care if I need to exert extra effort just for reaching them.
In the end, it is still us who will decide what to do in our life. Whether to help or not, no one can dictate us. It should come from our heart, rooted with deep passion and enthusiasm in everyday tasks. This will be a legacy that we may leave to them. Help other people to help yourself and make it a habit.
“Success is measured by the number of people that you helped.”
